The Great Northern Hotel re-opened to wide public acclaim in the Spring of 2013 after a fully comprehensive renovation programme that took 5 years to complete. In accordance with strict statutory laws protecting this Grade II listed landmark, the property was taken back to its brick shell and completely and sensitively refurbished in terms of its core architecture, interior design and mechanical & electrical services.

There has been substantial coverage of the hotel in the general, specialist trade press and architectural press since it re-opened and several of the articles that have appeared are listed below. These articles provide independent views of the high quality achieved through the renovation project and how the GNH has been returned to being one of London’s finest luxury hotels, as it was in 1853 when it opened as the first of the World’s great railway hotels.
