About The Great Northern Hotel Kings Cross, St. Pancras, London

Location

We’re in the heart of King’s Cross. Once an industrial transport hub, now one of London’s most exciting and fast changing destinations. Home to the world’s biggest organisations and some of London’s most exciting start-ups. A place brimming with restaurants, bars, shops and venues. It remains London’s most important transport hub – the gateway to the city, the link to the North and the point of embarkation for journeys to Europe.

From here you can explore all London has to offer from its best-connected Underground station, you can discover the past and future of King’s Cross and you can set off on longer journeys. It’s the perfect base.

History & Heritage

Our award-winning, grade II listed hotel was first unveiled in 1854. It’s the oldest railway hotel in London and the only one designed by architect Lewis Cubitt. It’s a place that has much to celebrate and many stories to tell – from the curve that follows the route of the old St Pancras Road, to the thick, clinker-filled walls, to its place in an amazing historical, industrial landscape.

We’re proud of our heritage and passionate about keeping it alive. We have carefully balanced the past and the future to create a hotel that remains relevant, innovative and admired. We celebrate our history but look forward to our future. And we continue to create wonderful experiences for our guests.

  • GNH Fact - No.10

Each floor acts as a small exhibition, showcasing artwork by emerging London artists.

  • GNH Fact - No.3

The curve of our building follows the course of the old St Pancras Road and the river that flowed alongside it.

Perfect stay when using the Eurostar Train service in London We have just stayed here to make things easier with a Eurostar booked early in the morning. Hotel extremely clean, staff friendly and helpful. Ideal for stations as next to Kings Cross Station. We had an issue with our room which was sorted immediately when we pointed it out to the staff. Was nice to have a pantry on the same floor stocked with snacks and drinks included in the room cost. Will stay again.

Great Hotel in great location As always a great stay at the Great Northern Hotel. The hotel and rooms spotlessly cleans . The staff polite and attentive. The location and transportation links second to none . An ideal base for exploring London . A special mention to Marco Salamon the general manager whose prompt replies to emails and attention to detail enhanced the whole stay. This is our third stay here definitely will be back.

Pleasant stay! I just completed an overnight stay at the GNH hotel and had a pleasant experience. Chanelle at the front desk warmly greeted me upon arrival and facilitated earlier access to my room. The hotel is elegantly appointed and rooms are virtually soundproof despite being next to several major rail stations. Each floor has a pantry if you’d like to grab a coffee/tea and pastry throughout the day. Highly recommended!

Exquisite hotel, perfect location for Kings Cross and best sleep! My family and I booked this hotel purely by chance as it was connected to the station on a day which saw all trains north cancelled for 24 hours. We were so stressed when we arrived at the hotel after waiting on a freezing platform for over 6 hours and were immediately looked after by the lovely ladies on the reception desk - Isha, Kiran and Chenelle. They moved rooms around to accommodate us as we needed to be near our two children. These ladies really helped to turn a horrific day into a wonderful stay and could not have been more friendly or helpful and we could not thank them enough. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated in a sophistocated 1930's theme with a welcoming ambiance. The bar was gorgeous and the bar tender made us our favourite cocktails which were not on the menu and they were delicious. The rooms were bright with large windows and clean with lovely toiletries. The beds were super comfortable aswell as the pillows, we all slept soundly as the windows were very insulating and we did not hear a thing! Each floor has a unique little pantry situated at the end of the corridor which is available 24 hours for tea/coffee and snacks. The newly built Coal Drop Yard was a short walk away and gave us somethign to do in the evening. Breakfast was beautiful and again the decor in the restaurant was exquisite. We hope to return to London next summer and will definitely be rebooking this glorious hotel!
