About The Great Northern Hotel Kings Cross, St. Pancras, London
History & Heritage
Our award-winning, grade II listed hotel was first unveiled in 1854. It’s the oldest railway hotel in London and the only one designed by architect Lewis Cubitt. It’s a place that has much to celebrate and many stories to tell – from the curve that follows the route of the old St Pancras Road, to the thick, clinker-filled walls, to its place in an amazing historical, industrial landscape.
We’re proud of our heritage and passionate about keeping it alive. We have carefully balanced the past and the future to create a hotel that remains relevant, innovative and admired. We celebrate our history but look forward to our future. And we continue to create wonderful experiences for our guests.
GNH Fact - No.10
Each floor acts as a small exhibition, showcasing artwork by emerging London artists.
GNH Fact - No.3
The curve of our building follows the course of the old St Pancras Road and the river that flowed alongside it.

I arrived late last night from a long plane journey from mumbai. I needed to be as close to the train stations as possible so chose this hotel. On arrival I was given an instant upgrade and the staff where absaloutly wonderful
Breakfast was superb 10/10 again I was looked after very well indeed
The room was clean and the decor absolutely spot on for the price
The bathroom was a good size and well equipped with everything needed
Travelling alone one can feel a little vulnerable especially when tired after travelling
This morning one of the staff who I may day was a real help and a gentleman helped me to my train and secured my luggage arrived with me safely
High praises for the great northern hotel and its brilliant friendly team
Well done guys
I would certainly stay again
Beautiful, convenient and very comfortable room
Stayed for one night and my only regret was not spending more time in the room, especially the bed. The linen, duvet and pillows were extremely comfortable. It was spotless clean too! Ideally located. Reception staff were also very efficient, therefore I would definitely recommend.
Exceptional Hotel Experience
Arrived in London very early in the morning before checkin at a hotel I had booked. Needed a day room to have a nap and shower. The Great Northern was extremely welcoming and friendly in accommodating me at short notice. It is a beautiful Hotel in a prime position with beautiful rooms and great breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was so impressed by their service I cancelled my booked hotel and stayed here instead. Close to everything. Lively and exciting during the day but very calm and peaceful location at night time.
