The theme this Christmas is all about creativity and learning a new skill.
This year, the hotel has joined forces with their neighbours in Coal Drops Yard – the shopping destination just 5 minutes’ walk away – for their new ‘Creative Christmas’ offer.
A day visit where guests can enjoy either a Champagne brunch or lunch at the hotel’s Plum + Spilt Milk restaurant, with tickets to a workshop to create personalised gifts under the guidance of skilled artisans at Coal Drops Yard.
CULTIVATE & CREATE
Release the inner creative within and make fabulous, one-of-a-kind presents for loved ones, whilst supporting local independent businesses. With house plants and ‘bringing the outside in’ both big trends in 2021, The Great Northern Hotel has teamed up with The Botanical Boys and Roseur in Coal Drops Yars, to offer tickets to their terrarium and dried flower workshops.
The Botanical Boys terrarium building workshops are a chance to destress, get creative and take home your own self-sustaining living garden.
Roseur specialises in dried flowers, beautifully crafted wreaths and bouquets. Roseur style heavily references nature and offers a variety of workshops including fresh flower boutique creation, dried flower bouquet masterclasses, sculpture gardens and terrariums.
A CELEBRATION OF BRITISH CUISINE
The Great Northern Hotel’s restaurant Plum + Spilt Milk, named after the maroon and cream colour adorning the dining carriage of the first Great Northern Railway, will introduce new a la carte and festive menus – with a new chef at the helm. The refreshed a la carte menu will continue to honour the restaurant’s celebration of British cuisine with winter dishes such as Seared South Coast Scallops and Pumpkin and Parmesan Soup, Oxtail Cottage Pie and Steamed Sea Bass, Sticky Plum Pudding and Classic Chocolate Mousse.
Kick off the Christmas season with the new festive menu which launches on 25th November. Start the meal with a hearty, warming dish such as Creamy Cauliflower Soup or Roasted Prince Queen Pumpkin, followed by a choice of either a traditional Christmas Lunch (with turkey, chestnut stuffing, pigs in blankets – and all the trimmings) or classic winter plates such as Beef Wellington. If guests still have space, top the meal off with the likes of a Traditional Christmas Pudding or a decadent Chocolate Fondant.
The Great Northern Hotel’s ‘Creative Christmas’ package starts from £165 for two people and includes a 2-course lunch at Plum + Spilt Milk from the festive menu with a glass of house bubbles per person, and two tickets to a workshop; or from £155 for two people and includes brunch in Plum + Spilt Milk (including a hot dish, hot beverage, juice and glass of house bubbles per person) plus two tickets to a workshop. In addition, a 15% discount off best available rates is available for guests who choose to stay overnight. Tickets to workshops are subject to availability.
To book, please contact The Great Northern Hotel team at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss restaurant and workshop availability. Bookings to be made in advance to ensure availability, will full prepayment required. If cancelled within 72 hours of visit, a full refund will be issued.
